New York has billion dollar debt, how this affects east coast skiing

The state of New York is taking donations. The state legislation has revealed that by the end of this month, they will have a negative billion dollar bank balance. Yikes. Governor David Paterson has since ordered his budget staff to stop payments to schools, non-profit organizations, local governments and counties.

OK, that’s kind of a big deal and all, but, more importantly, how are the ski areas in the state handling this? Sure, they may not rely on government money to thrive, but just think of all the people working at schools, non-profits etc who may have to miss out on a skiing trip because of payment delays!

We kid, but seriously, issues surrounding the economy have weighed very heavily on many peoples’ minds. Click here to read how the ski industry is doing its part to help.
