Finally, after years of disappointing Big Bear tourists with the lack of ice rink in the Socal resort town, local developers are set to make this wish a reality.

Today at noon, the new 5,000 square foot Ice Garden Skating Rink will open to the public. The pond-style rink is located between Pine Knot Avenue and Village Drive in Big Bear’s Village.

The new rink is the first outdoor rink to the area since the closure of Spalding Big Bear Woods Ice Rink in the 1930s. The new ice-skating facility will be open daily now through April, weather permitting.

Hours will run:

12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday
12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday – Saturday

Costs:

$8 per adult
$6 per child (13 years and under)

Rentals cost $4 per person.
