The fastest mom on the World Cup, Vail’s Sarah Schleper scored an eight place finish in the GS today.  Schleper missed the entire 2007 season to rehab an ACL injury and 2008 season to become a mommy.

Starting 19th after the first run, Schleper skied a perfect final leg and posted the fastest second run in the entire field.  “I just skied clean and (I’ve) been doing what I’ve been doing in training, and that seemed to pay off today. I couldn’t have asked for a better second run,” Schleper said of her first top 10 since before the Olympics in 2006.

Julia Mancuso finished 16th.  And Lindsey Vonn’s podium-less streak in GS continues.  She crashed on her first run.

France’s Tessa Worley took first, Tina Maze of Slovenia was second, and Kathrin Zettel of Austria was third.

Another technical event tomorrow with the Are slalom.
