UPDATE on Bode Miller: Sprained ankle may keep him out of Val Gardena downhill

Bode Miller posted an update to his blog on Universal Sports about his sprained right ankle.  It happened Saturday evening while going up for a block at the net.  Miller landed on his teammate’s foot when he came down.  As for racing the downhill at Val Gardena, Miller says the course is mellow and would allow for him racing somewhat hurt, if the swelling goes down and he get his foot into his boot.  He goes on to say:

My ankle is still pretty swollen today. Until I can get the swelling to go down, I’m not going to be able to ski. I don’t know how long that will be. It’s always kind of a question mark. It’s really hard to guess with those things.

There are two training runs for the downhill, one on Wednesday and the other on Thursday.  The super G is scheduled for Friday and the downhill will take place on Saturday.
