Mt Hood missing climbers: “1 percent chance of finding climbers alive”

Dr. Terri Schmidt, the EMS Medical Director for Clackamas County was quoted by The Oregonian as saying there is a one percent chance of finding climbers alive after 48 hours.

With the odds painting a bleak picture, hope remains.  Clackumus County Sheriff Craig Roberts said, “This is still a rescue.”

Unfortunately because of an avalanche danger that has doubled combined with severe weather, ground search for Katie Nolan and Anthony Vietti will not resume for the “foreseeable future.”
