Swiss rockstar skier and World Cup podium regular Didier Cuche might sit out the Val Gardena World Cup due to a broken rib. Accordingthe veteran’s Web site, his injury was “…rather embarrassing, but not serious.” Cuche broke the fifth rib on his left side.

Even so, the fracture is causing pain. Cuche fell in training at Val d’Isere, France and skipped Sunday’s GS race because of his soreness.

Cuche’s site said he would ski a training run at Val Gardena, to assess his pain level. Official training for the Saslong Classic starts tomorrow with the Super G on Saturday, and the Downhill, Sunday.
