Arctic Challenge has new date

The first week of January was the original starting date for The Arctic Challenge, also known as “Terje’s Contest” (for snowboard rockstar Terje Haakonsen). However, due to warmer-than-expected temperatures in Oslo, snowmaking has been tough, so organizers have rescheduled the event for March 5-7. Now The Arctic Challenge will take place right before X Games France, yet after the Winter Olympics. The idea was that riders’ schedules would be freer during this time.

The course is set up as a slopestyle one this year, and there will be no quarterpipe built…so Terje’s world record transition air of 32 feet, set in 2007, will go unchallenged.
