Canadian ski racer Larisa Yurkiw may have torn up her knee

Larisa Yurkiw is a 21-year-old Canadian ski racer on the rise. She earned her first World Cup top ten finish last season, won a silver medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships, and most recently scored in all three races in Lake Louise, with a 16th place finish in the second downhill.

Unfortunately though, she crashed during a training run today in Val d’Isere and went back to Canada for a thorough evaluation. Preliminary speculation is that she tore her ACL or MCL in her left knee. She will not be diagnosed with anything until she returns to Canada. We wish her a speedy and full recovery.
