Ski lift malfunction leaves 14 injured

At Devil’s Head Resort in Merrimac, Wisconsin, an emergency brake on a ski lift failed last night. This caused the the lift’s cable to slide backwards, which in turn caused several chairs to crash into the lift’s base. Our reports state that 14 skiers and snowboarders were injured, but none critically (although three injuries were labeled serious). Many skiers and riders jumped off the lift from heights of up to 20 feet to avoid crashing.

Officials at Devil’s Head Resort plan to discover the cause of the malfunction today.

Accidents happen folks. Machines sometimes throw us a curve ball and decide to stop working. We’re just glad no one was critically injured.
