U.S. Snowboarders kill it at Telluride SBX World Cup qualis – stack tomorrow’s finals

The women’s results from today’s qualifications at the Telluride World Cup Snowboardcross haven’t yet come in, though we can predict that 2006 Olympic silver medalist Lindsey Jacobellis will move on to the finals. What we do know is that the U.S. Team men racked it up in today’s quali rounds, with 2006 Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott sitting in second, Nick Baumgartner in third, 2002 Olympic half-pipe gold medalist Ross Powers in sixth, X Games gold medalist Nate Holland in ninth, Shaun Palmer in 12th, Graham Watanabe in 13th and Alex Diebold in 18th. Clearly the U.S. Snowboarding SBX Team is strong. Make that Strong, with a capital S.

The qualification rounds determine who will race for World Cup medals–and points–at during tomorrow’s finals. Today’s finishes also determine the run orders and groups. (In SBX, six athletes race at a time, with two moving on to the next round(s).)
