Solitude opens new lift

Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah just unveiled Powderhorn II, which runs from the bottom of Sunshine Bowl to the top of the original Powderhorn lift. Now that it’s a mid-mountain starting point, more advanced skiers and snowboarders will enjoy being able to do consecutive runs (from Diamond Lane to Sunshine Bowl) without having to go back to the base and wade through beginner runs.

What was a 12 minute ride to the top before will now only be a 7 minute one, and Honeycomb Canyon will still be easily accessible from the top. Powderhorn II is a fixed grip quad, unlike the original Powderhorn double, and this lift combined with the $7 million investment in two new high-speed detachable lifts will definitely make for an improvement at Solitude.
