Colorado’s “Ski Train” in danger again

The Ski Train, a popular rail service from Denver to Winter Park Ski Resort, has gone through ownership change after being shut down last year and was scheduled to begin service again this Sunday. Negotiations between Amtrak and the owners, Iowa Pacific Holdings, have broken down and threaten to halt service once more.

The owners are suing Amtrak over “unforseen demands” while talks have halted over issues ranging from liability insurance to rail car safety. The service had run for 69 years prior to last year, and was much loved by Denver residence. Long live the Ski Train!
