Nigel Jackson, a British skier who was caught in a Christmas Day avalanche in the French Alps did in fact die in the avalanche and his body has now been recovered. Jackson, 43 was an advanced skier, but had no avalanche gear on. Supposedly the avalanche was not a big one, but as seen time and time again, the size is not the only dangerous variable in the equation.
This is the second fatality in the French Alps this week. That fatality also involved a skier without out a avalanche protection as well. In that slide two other skiers, managed to stay on top and both survived.
