Divine intervention in a ski town

No matter if you’re a person of science, or a person of faith—what happened to a Colorado Springs family over Christmas is nothing short of a miracle.

Mike Hermanstorfer watched his wife Tracy succumb to cardiac arrest as she was in labor with their son, Coltyn. As Coltyn was delivered via C-section, his heart rate was so low that he was basically gone too.

Mike was obviously devastated beyond comprehension.

Then, all of a sudden, Coltyn’s heart rate elevated, and Tracy simply woke up.

“My legs went out from underneath me,” Hermanstorfer said Tuesday. “I had everything in the world taken from me, and in an hour and a half I had everything given to me.”

Dr. Stephanie Martin, maternal fetal medicine specialist in Colorado Springs, had no explanation. “We did a thorough evaluation and can’t find anything that explains why this happened,” she said.

Tracy Hermanstorfer was technically dead for about four minutes. “I just felt like I was asleep,” she said. Once told her heart had stopped for 240 seconds, she reacted with: “I’m like, ‘Holy cow, was it that bad? Wow.’”

The Hermanstorfers left the hospital healthy, happy and with their new baby boy. They enjoyed a belated holiday.

Whatever your beliefs, or lack of them, no one can dispute that the couple in this ski town received one heck of a Christmas miracle.
