After a short break, the tech skiers are back in action this week in Zagreb for the Audi FIS World Cup slalom. Bode Miller and Ted Ligety will be on hand after recently returning from the United States, and Jimmy Cochran and Tim Jitloff will also be back working to claim their Olympic spots.

There are four Olympic Team spots for every discipline, and U.S. Team coaches and officials are paying close to these next few races, which after a semi-slow start to the season, could be the deciding factor. ”We’re looking at it every race,” U.S. Ski Team Head Coach Sasha Rearick told the AP last week. “I’ve got a list right now.”

The Zagreb slalom runs on Wednesday, January 6. The tech skiers then head to Adelboden, Switzerland for another slalom and GS, while the speed athletes travel to Wengen, for the first of two major classic downhill World Cups. (After Wengen is the World famous Kitzbuhel.)
