A ski instructor has been found dead at Steamboat Springs ski resort.  Grace Lynn McNeil, a ski instructor for Arapahoe Basin, was at Steamboat for a few days of freeskiing with a fellow group of instructors.   According to NBC affiliate, 9News, McNeil lost contact with her friends about 1:30pm on Tuesday.   By 9pm Tuesday night, searchers still had not located McNeil.  The search resumed this morning and McNeil’s body was discovered at 8:30am.  The 23-year-old’s body was found in a tree well under two feet of snow.  The coroner’s initial report, an autopsy is still pending, is that McNeil suffocated.

Many resorts have been opening glade areas over the past few weeks.  Stay in visual contact with a buddy while tree skiing during the early part of the season.  Once the snow gets packed down, in bounds tree wells become much less of a hazard.
