Lindsey Vonn placed fourth in the official World Cup downhill training at Haus im Ennstal, Austria today. Swiss skier Martina Schild took the lead with a time of 1:40.72, and Vonn was just .58 seconds behind her. Austrians Andrea Fischbacher and Elisabeth Goergl finished second and third respectively.

Vonn’s U.S. Ski Team compatriot Leanne Smith pulled from a 40th place start to the 7th position, with a time of 1:41.59. Smith’s best career World Cup downhill finish to date is 23rd, so the top-ten spot is a big jump for the New Hampshire native.

There is one more day of training on the Krummholz course and then the first of two downhill World Cups takes place Friday, January 8th. The ladies will also have a Super G on Sunday, January 10th
