Lindsey Vonn 10th in last training run before World Cup downhill tomorrow

If ever 10th place was more like 1st, it was today.  The last downhill training run in Haus im Enstaal was all about starting position.  And like a Hollywood scenester, the later the better.  Conditions up top were foggy and snowy and the later racers took advantage of improving conditions.

Norwegian racer Lotte Smiseth Sejersted started 63rd and finished first.  The look at the top ten and their starting position went 63-47-54-67-50-51-46-23-24-15.

That 15 belonged to Lindsey Vonn.  So considering both her starting position and her injured hand, the 10th place showing showed a lot.  Vonn will be charging tomorrow.

“I definitely pushed it a little harder today,” she said. “I made a pretty big mistake on the last right-footed turn. I didn’t quite push as hard out of the start again today, but I’m saving all of my arm strength for tomorrow.”
