Sunset Blvd coming to Mammoth: ultra-exclusive Hyde Lounge to open in Mammoth Village

Every so often a business idea comes along that seems just so crazy, that it just might work. When I was walking through the Village at Mammoth on my way to the slopes the other day, I found myself in one of those aforementioned moments.

Peering out from the windows of the yet-to-be finished new bar in Mammoth Village were employment posters displaying the familiar font and logo of the infamous Hyde Lounge.

Hyde Lounge, known for years as one of the most exclusive West Hollywood watering holes, will be opening their third location right in the heart of Mammoth. Besides the original location situated in the heart of Sunset Boulevard next to the Laugh Factory, the intimate lounge recently opened a satellite version in the Staples Center late last year. It now seems with this third location that owners SBE have been entertaining various different models of how to expand the Hyde brand.

Hyde will be replacing what was to be the location of “Boards,” which appears to have fallen through.

The question then really becomes how the ski town’s residents and clientele will react to the migration of the swanky WEHO vibe to the Cali-cool resort. On a given night in Mammoth its rare to find someone wearing dress shoes or a collared shirt, a staple usually found amongst Hyde’s lounge-goers.

Then again, check out this video of the recently Olympic-bound Shaun White scoping out the original location in Hollywood sans a sleeved shirt. Perhaps there will be more harmony between the ski-town and the SBE-owned hotspot then previously thought?

No word yet ether on whether the latest Hyde Lounge will offer up ‘bottle service’ at its Mammoth-based lounge. I don’t think many Mammoth folks will be willing to fork over $600 for bottles of Dom, but it will definitely be interesting to watching come peak season. Look for the new Hyde at Mammoth location to open in the coming weeks.
