SEVEN SPRINGS, Pa. – Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania’s premier four season resort, will open its Superpipe, Sat., Jan. 16!

The recent abundance of snow, cold temperatures and the resort’s commitment to snowmaking has allowed crews to get a head start the creation of the resort’s Superpipe, which is ranked number one on the East Coast by Transworld Snowboarding magazine. This weekend’s opening will be the pipe’s earliest opening since its inception in 2007.

The Superpipe, which is located in The Spot terrain park, measures nearly 500 feet in length, has 18-foot high walls and requires just under 2.6 million cubic feet of snow. Over the past two weeks, strategically placed snow guns and towers have been churning out the snow day and night. The crews have been pushing, stacking and moving this snow constantly for the past eight days. The pipe will get its initial cut on Thurs., Jan. 14, and the final cut work will continue on Friday and into early Saturday morning to have a perfectly shaped pipe for the grand opening.

“To open the pipe this early in the season is a tremendous feat,” said Joel Rerko, action sports director at Seven Springs. “The entire team here at the resort is committed to maintaining the top spot on the Transworld Snowboarding list and we will do whatever it takes to provide our snowboarders and skiers with the some of the best built and maintained terrain park features; not only in the East, but in the entire country.”
