Swiss ski racer Lara Gut must miss the Olympics

Very sad for Ms. Lara Gut, ski racing phenom and one of our illustrious SuperBabes of Snow.

Due to lack of recovery of her dislocated hip, she will not be able to participate in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. She injured the hip last September while training. These Olympics would have been 18-year-old Lara’s first Games. Last year, she took home the silver in the downhill World Championships, right behind Lindsey Vonn.

Lara’s doctors decided she should not return to skiing until the end of this month, therefore she would not be able to qualify for selection for the Swiss Olympic team which takes place on February 1st.

Lara is young. These Games will not be the last ones she sees, but her situation is sad nonetheless.
