What to expect today, and for the holiday weekend at Mammoth Mountain

Heading to Mammoth Mountain for the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday weekend? Maybe you’re already there (cough, jealous, cough, hate you, cough).

If so, check out their activities and conditions for today, should be more of the same for the weekend! This is from their website:

It’s setting up to be a beautiful, bluebird day. It’s just a few notches above 30 degrees at :6:15am and there’s a hint of a breeze.  So we’re hoping you’re heading for the hill like we are. And if you’re visiting for the long weekend, it should be a blast with the 16″ we received a few days back.

Our sister mountain, June, received the same. If you’ve never been, definitely put it on your To Do list. Only about 25 minutes from Mammoth, it’s like skiing in Montana without the cold: lift lines are non-existent. And you can park right next to the bottom chairlift. June has a little something for everyone, but its long, winding runs are ideal for beginners, intermediates and families.

And if you like to spend some time in the air or sliding sideways, their award winning parks include features for beginners, intermediates and experts.

June Lake also is home to one of the coolest little apres ski spots/restaurants in the country – The Tiger Bar. This small, hometown spot has breakfast, lunch and dinner and one of the best Bloody Marys this side of the Sierra.

Today the last day to vote for in the Lange Girl Contest, which features Mammoth’s own Sophie D.  Throw her a vote here and maybe some day she’ll give you a tip or two on fine-tuning your turns.
