Congratulations to Norway’s Helene Olafsen and France’s Pierre Vaultier—winners of today’s fourth snowboard cross race of this Snowboard World Cup season.

Olafsen finished in front of Canada’s Dominique Maltais and Maelle Ricker. Ricker still leads the World Cup rankings, and Olafsen is now in third overall.

Olafsen celebrated a back-to-back podium result and said “This is amazing. I didn’t expect this at all as this course wasn’t really mine.”

Added Dominique Maltais: “I didn’t have a good start but I knew that I’m fast in the last section. I’m in a very good mental and physical form at the moment.”

For the men, this marks 22-year-old Vaultier’s eighth World Cup win. He is currently the overall leader. “This worked out pretty good although I had a very bad start. But I felt very good today,” Vaultier said. Germany’s David Speiser came in second and American Nick Baumgartner was third.

Said Speiser: “I’m very happy with my second place finish. I had a good start which was very important as you had to be in front in the middle section if you wanted to go for victory. Now, I have a good feeling for the upcoming Olympics.”

The next snowboard cross race will take place January 20-21st in Stoneham.
