Ski Irie! Errol Kerr of the Jamaican Ski Team qualifies for Winter Olympics

After his 11th in a World Cup skicross race in France, it has become official.  Errol Kerr has qualified for the Winter Olympics.  Eric Holmer, aka Homey, Kerr’s tech, trainer, and part-time psychiatrist, broke the word saying, “Its official Errol Kerr of Jamaica qualifies for the Olympic Skier X in Vancouver.”

It’s big news for the Truckee man with the Jamaican pop, as Kerr will be the first medal contender at the Winter Games for Jamaica.  Yes, the Jamaican bobsled team was a fun concept, but Kerr is not Cool Runnings part 2.  Kerr has a legitimate podium shot come February.

For more than a year, the Ski Channel documented Kerr’s journey and dream of representing his father’s nation at the Winter Olympics.  Well, that dream became official today.  Kerr will rep the Jamaican flag colors of green, black, and gold.  It’s that last color, if Kerr can beat the odds and win gold in Vancouver, that will make for the perfect Hollywood ending.  Did I say Hollywood?  Sorry, the perfect Jamaican ending.

Big congrats to Mr. Kerr.  We don’t know yet if he’ll be the fastest come February, but with his Spyder supplied, Jamaican inspired get-up, we know he’ll be the coolest looking.

Check out Team of One, Errol Kerr’s amazing story on The Ski Channel.
