POWDER ALERT: Utah due to receive 3 to 5 FEET of snow!

The snow has been falling in the Utah mountains but the real whopper is due to roll in early Friday. Meteorologists predict three to five FEET!!! in the southern mountains, including the Brian Head Resort, and two feet along the Wasatch Front.

That two extra feet at resorts like Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton and even Deer Valley and the Canyons is nothing to sneeze at. (Check out that deep blue sky yesterday at the Canyons (at left)!) Alta is already reporting 15 fresh inches from the past 24 hours, which is over one foot (yes, it’s all about math).

The massive snow dump due Friday may be a little disruptive to the Park City-bound, however. Tomorrow marks the start of the final U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix event, where Shaun White, Louie Vito, Ellery Hollingsworth and others will compete in the halfpipe to solidify their Olympic spots. The official U.S. Olympic Halfpipe Team will be announced after the final competition on Saturday night.
