Sad news to report today. Yesterday, we reported that the Sun Valley Ski Patrol responded to a report of a buried male skier on Bald Mountain. He was transported to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center.

Today, that skier has succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Blaine County deputy coroner Kerry Bingham confirmed the death, but was unable to release any details about the victim.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of this man. Let this be a reminder to everyone to please take an avalanche awareness class and always remember to carry avalanche beacons when traversing the backcountry.
