NBC to unveil Shaun White and Red Bull Project X this Saturday

By now most of the snow sports world has seen the dizzying double corks and double mctwists that Shaun White has almost single-handily brought to the sport of snowboarding in only a few short months. He made the Winter X Games 14 superpipe his own personal playground last night, as he literally looked so relaxed while double flipping his way through the pipe you could argue he wasn’t even trying his hardest.

But where did these maneuvers come from? We had seen double rodeos and even triple corks from the likes of Travis Rice for years, but never in the superpipe, let alone as a regular contest trick. Much insight into this shifting paradigm could come from the NBC special event airing tomorrow afternoon January 30th.

The peacock network will be airing what is known as Red Bull Project X, a special athlete project the energy drink company created for top athlete Shaun White. In one of the most jaw-dropping juxtapositions of all-time, Red Bull built a 550 foot superpipe in the heart of the Silverton, CO backcountry.

Rather then bore you with my lame attempt to describe just how insanely cool this project was, let’s take a look at the epic teaser for tomorrow’s show.

Be sure to tune in to the show which will air at 2pm EST/11am PST tomorrow on NBC.
