Two-time Winter X Games Skier-X gold medalist Casey Puckett announced today that he will not be competing on Sunday in the Men’s Skier-X Final.

Puckett, 37, who was recently named to the U.S. Olympic Skier-X team, suffered an AC separation of his left shoulder in a World Cup race on January 9.

Puckett recently had surgery on the shoulder January 13.It’s surprising that the former alpine racer entered Friday’s qualifiers despite having surgery on his left shoulder just 16 days ago. Puckett did not finish the race, as he pulled out near the top of the course after launching too far and landing on the up slant of a roller.

Despite the injury, Puckett plans on competing in the Vancouver, where he’ll be making his fifth Winter Olympic appearance.
