Winter X Games 14 Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Elimination results

Yesterday it was the skiers working the slopestyle course at Buttermilk, but today it was the snowboarders who had their way with the innovative course. It was interesting to compare the lines of the boarders to the skiers, as many utilized the metal pole jib rather then taking the disaster down box like many of the skiers.

It was a disappointing day for Mammoth Mountain local Tyler Flanagan, as he failed to make the cut after coming so close. After tossing a backside 1080 double cork, the 16 year old Winter Dew Tour leader placed his hand down on the “Money Booter” final jump. The slight bobble would cost the X-Games rookie his chance to end up in finals.

Flanagan would not be the only notable missing from Sunday’s finalists. “That’s It That’s All” star Travis Rice would have a disappointing day as he failed to piece together all the elements of a standard Rice run. Rice isn’t done yet at Winter X Games 14 though, he is entered in Saturday night’s Snowboard Big Air event where he certainly is a top contender.

Snowbasin Dew Tour winner Chas Guldemond was flirting with disaster after not laying down a complete run in either of his first two attempts. However, on his final run, he would finally display the skills that has had him winning every slopestyle contest ranging from the Grand Prix to Winter Dew Tour this year. Look out for this kid on Sunday. Many of the competitors were probably not to stoked to have Guldemond sneak in with his last run, for good reason.
