In a sport like Snowboard X where there are so many outside variables beyond one’s control, the idea of winning 5 contests in a row is pretty unthinkable, let alone against the sport’s top athletes. Someone can obstruct your line out of nowhere, killing your chances. However, no one could stop US Snowboard Team athlete Nate Holland from becoming the first athlete to ever win five consecutive years in a row at Winter X Games in the same event.

Seth Wescott gave Holland a good fight, but not even sharing the same wax tech could stop a five-peat.

Italian Alberto Schiavon played spoiler to the Americans as he edged out American Nick Baumgartner to steal away a perfect American sweep. The US Snowboard Team will now just have to wait until next month in Vancouver for another shot at a perfect podium.
