Dimitri Vassiliev is a top ranked Russian ski jumper, expected to bring home a medal to his country. Those hopes may have died today as Dimitry fell in Lillehammer, Norway, re-injuring a knee he hurt while ski flying four weeks ago.

Dimitri is ranked significantly higher than the next Russian ski jumper, Pavel Karelin (ranked 50th on the FIS jumping points list). Thus, his potential lack of attendance at the Olympics is not great for Mother Russia. We’ll have more on this story when details emerge.
