World Champion phenom Lindsey Vonn again spoke about her recent training injury today at an Olympic press conference in Whistler. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t good. Vonn was frank about her shin injury, and didn’t pander to the press. “It was really bad luck; I crashed in slalom training about a week ago. I injured my shin very badly and wasn’t able to walk for the next two days,” Vonn said. “I stayed over in Europe and changed my plans completely in preparation for these Games. I did therapy with my Red Bull crew trying to get better as quickly as possible.”

Tomorrow marks the first day of official training for the women, with downhill training in preparation for Sunday’s Super Combined race. Vonn isn’t yet sure if she’ll ski tomorrow or rest some more. “I have not skied since my injury a week ago and don’t know how it’s going to feel. I’ve tried just putting my boot on in my hotel room and I can tell you it’s excruciatingly painful,” Vonn said. “So I’m hoping that tomorrow when I get on skis things will be OK but honestly I have no idea. I’m trying to stay positve obviously still doing therapy and I guess tomorrow we’ll see how things are going to be shaping up.”

The women’s training starts Thursday at 9:30 a.m. local time.
