Security sure is tight in Vancouver. U.S. Freestyle Ski Team athlete Michelle Roark’s husband Mike Hormell was banned recently from the Cypress venue, and won’t be able to watch her compete in tonight’s moguls competition.

Roark, a veteran athlete, has won World Cup six events and placed in the top three over a dozen times–making her a top medal contender. Hormell has often traveled with her, and been at her side throughout her competitions.

According to security officials, Hormell tried to watch Roark train earlier this week without credentials and was removed from the site. Roark said Hormell filled out the proper paperwork for clearance, but officials said they didn’t receive the information.

A tearful Roark told reporters that she’s since asked the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association for help but they declined.

Knowing Roark, the incident will likely stoke her fires and she’ll channel her aggression into the moguls course, tonight. The petite perfumer  (she owns and runs Phinomenal) is in fact a powerhouse, so look for her to shine regardless of the ban.
