Team USA has done it again! Sugarloaf snowboarder Seth Wescott won Olympic gold today at Cypress Mountain in Vancouver! Wescott was behind Canadian Mike Robertson for most of the final heat, and Wescott’s teammate, Nate Holland seemed like he would take the lead.

Robertson knocked Holland away, and the American slipped into fourth place, out of medal position. As the men rode down, Wescott gradually gained on Robertson until the two were neck and neck, and finally moved past him in the air to handily win the gold. (Frenchman Tony Ramoin took the bronze.)

It is the second gold medal at the 2010 Winter Games for the USA, and the second career Olympic gold for Wescott. He won in 2006, in Torino, and became the first (and still only) gold medal winner in the snowboardcross event.
