Feel like your quality of life could use an improvement? Then you might want to reconsider moving to the ski friendly town of Boulder, Colorado. Boulder was ranked the best city for “well-being” among 185 metro areas in the nation. Colorado as a state was ranked 7th.

These numbers came out today in the “Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index”. For research, 353,848 adult Americans were interviewed via telephone about their quality of life–including their present life situation and their anticipated situation five years from now.

“While these rankings are not intended to be a competition — they are not about winners and losers — they do provide government policy-makers, community leaders, media agencies, employers, health plans and health-care providers with an unprecedented level of detailed information about where communities are doing well, where they are struggling and where to best target policies and investments to assist residents to maximize their well-being,” the index said.

The top 10 cities for well-being in the report are Boulder; Holland, Mich.; Honolulu; Provo, Utah; Santa Rosa, Calif; Santa Barbara, Calif.; San Jose, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; Ogden, Utah; and Oxnard, Calif.

And the top 10 states are Hawaii, Utah, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, Vermont, Colorado, Alaska, North Dakota and Kansas.
