Second snow storm sweeps the south

For the second time since the weekend, the southern US was slammed with some snow and ice. Tennessee and Alabama were hit the most, with Kentucky affected as well.

Atlanta was expecting to get snow as well, as it did over the weekend, but above-freezing temperatures kept the rain from turning into the white stuff.

Many traffic accidents have been reported in Nashville this morning as highways are covered in snow and ice. Road conditions are pretty treacherous overall. Memphis also received about half an inch of snow this morning, but traffic was moving better in that region. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for Middle Tennessee and until 6 a.m. Tuesday for East Tennessee. Between one and three inches of snow was expected in the eastern two-thirds of the state through Tuesday.
