Lindsey Vonn gets complete day of rest for her shin as women’s downhill training canceled

As we reported earlier this morning, Lindsey Vonn awoke to terrible pain in her shin today. The bumpy downhill Olympic course does not treat her bruised bone well.

The good news is that today she can rest the shin completely. Although the downhill race is still scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) in Whistler, today’s training has been canceled due to heavy snow. It is the same reason the men’s super-combined race has been postponed until Friday.

The bad news is that with the cancellation of training, the women fail to get another day of practice in before race day. At least all competitors will be in the same boat by missing today’s practice, however.

Hopefully conditions in Whistler will be solid for tomorrow’s race, and we can watch an injury-free race.
