Following an impressive training run yesterday in which she came out on top, American superstar skier Lindsey Vonn, the most successful American female ski racer of all time, is in excruciating pain today.

Her bruised shin has been quite aggravated by the bumpy downhill course, and after training yesterday, the pain truly flared. She told reporters today she still plans on racing tomorrow, but it will be a fight for her, considering this course is the bumpiest one she has ever encountered. “It was a fight to make it down,” she admitted. “I was barely in my tuck at any part of the course. I think this is the worst course for my shin. I just have to fight through it.

Lindsey’s husband, Thomas Vonn, former U.S. Ski team member, explained the significance of the bumpy nature of the course: “All those little ripples get magnified by the speed of 60 mph,” he said.

Lindsey added: “I just have to be able to grit my teeth and fight through it (tomorrow) and hopefully still come out on top,” she said.
