Tiger Woods has just broken his silence and delivered a 14-minute long speech that stirred emotions. Tiger was visibly shaken. To our eyes, he was sincere and deeply emotional throughout this speech. Here are some highlights of what he said:

“I have a lot to atone for…”
“I have bitterly disappointed all of you…”
Tiger made it very clear to all of us that his wife Elin Nordegren never hit him. Never in their relationship has there been domestic violence. “Elin deserves praise, not blame…”

Tiger flat out admitted his transgressions: “What i did is not acceptable. I was unfaithful. I cheated.”
“I convinced myself that normal rules didn’t apply…”
“I thought only about myself, thought i could get away with whatever i wanted…”
“I felt i was entitled thanks to money and fame…”
“I was wrong and I was foolish…”
“I brought this shame on myself…”
“I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother…and kids all around the world who admired me…”

Tiger let us know he plans on “never repeating the mistakes [he's] made…[he must now] live a life of integrity…”
He said that in life, “it’s not what you achieve that matter, it’s what you overcome…character and decency are what really count…”

He also admitted that he needs help for his problem (a problem he never stated, but it can be assumed he is referring to sex addiction): “It’s hard to admit that I need help, but I do. I have a long way to go…”

He also cleared up that he “never used performance enhancing drugs…”

He pleaded with the media to “please leave my wife and kids alone…”

He revealed that Buddhism “will help him learn restraint…”

He then said he has a “need to regain balance in life to save my marriage and my children…” although noticeably absent was a wedding ring on his finger.

Lastly, Tiger told us he doesn’t know when his return to golf will be, although he’s not ruling out that it won’t be this year. His final plea to all of us: Please “find room in your heart to one day believe in me again…”
