United States dominates the world in Olympic medal count

Not that we’re boorish enough to run down the street claiming our nation is the best in the world and no one can touch us with a 20 foot pole…but…USA! USA! USA! We’re #1! We’re #1!

OK, now that’s out of our system, and we can stick to reporting facts. The fact is, the US is #1 in Olympic medals, both overall and gold. Will we keep our spot at the top? The count so far is this: The United States has 6 gold medals, 5 silvers and 7 bronzes for a total of 18 Olympic medals.

Germany is next in line with 11 overall medals (4 golds, 4 silvers, 3 bronzes). In third place is Norway with 3 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes for a total of 8. Glad to see the home country Canada in the top 5 with 3 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze. France rounds out the top five with 2 golds, 1 silver and 4 bronzes.
