If you’re a betting man or woman, chances are you’ve bet on sports. Nothing is more fun, especially in Vegas, than sports betting. You place your bet, sit down with a drink (or two) and watch the action unfold. As opposed to a card game, this sporting event is drawn out, and the action may seem very distant as you watch the athletes control your money through a monitor. The lack of control thrills many of us.

So, if you’re placing bets for today’s Olympic women’s Super G ski race…the safe bet would be on American sweetheart Lindsey Vonn. Her odds are -200.

Here’s how to read American sports bets: A negative number means a favorite, a positive number means an underdog. Bets are based on $100. If you see a negative number, that denotes the amount you have to RISK in order to WIN $100. So for Lindsey, it means you have to RISK $200 in order to win $100, for a total return of $300.

If you see a positive number, that indicates the amount you will WIN if you RISK $100. So, if you bet on Anja Paerson today, she’s +1000. That means if you bet $100 on Anja and she wins, you will win $1,000 for a total return of $1,100.

Hopefully that was somewhat clear. If you’re ready to go…here are a few of today’s odds:

Elisabeth Goergl +600

Maria Riesch +800

Andrea Fischbacher +1000

Fabienne Suter +1500

Fraenzi Aufdenblatten +1500

Anna Fenninger +2000

Nadia Styger +2000
