The Olympic women’s alpine super-G ski race is underway! 2-time silver medalist (in these Games alone) Julia Mancuso lead the charge with a time of 1:21.50 before Maria Riesch took over the gold medal position with 1:21.46. Maria won the gold medal for the super combined and is the one to beat right now! There are many more racers to go, however. Elisabeth Goergl, bronze medalist for downhill will race 16th, Lindsey Vonn will race 17th and Anja Paerson will race 21st.

This course seems a bit less treacherous than the downhill and slalom courses, however we have had two spills already.  Marusa Ferk from Slovenia and Canada’s Emily Brydon took some tumbles. Both athletes are fine and  the only things that appear to be injured are their spirits.
