Austria wins team ski jumping gold at Winter Olympics: Germany silver, Norway bronze, Americans 11th

The Austrian ski jumping team dominated and defended its title from the Turin, winning the team ski jumping gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The overflow crowd at Whistler Park were treated to an awesome display, with 20-year-old Gregor Schlierenzauer finishing off the competition with a gigantic jump of 146.5 meters.

“It is a perfect feeling to be on such a strong team,” Schlierenzauer said. “To be an Olympic champion is amazing.”

The final standings had the victorious Austrian team with 1,107.9 points, Germany with 1,035.8 points for the silver, and Norway with 1,030.3 points for the bronze.

The American ski jumping team placed 11th in the 12-team field, failing to qualify for the final round.
