Today, the Nordic Combined Olympic male athletes are competing in the individual long hill event at Whistler Olympic Park. The cross country ski portion of the event will take place at 2PM local time, but as of now, two time silver medalist at these Games American Johnny Spillane remains in the silver medal position. He is 34 seconds behind Austrian Bernhard Gruber (part of Tuesday’s gold medal winning Austrian relay team).

Gruber said he “had good conditions and a good jump, but [he suffers] for [his] other teammates because they did not have such good conditions”.

Spillane was happy with his jump, “now, [he's] just getting geared up for the Cross-Country”.

Spillane’s teammate Bill Demong is in sixth position right now, 46 seconds behind the Gruber. He is expected to make up a significant amount of time in the next portion of the competition.

Todd Lodwick is in the 13th spot, 1 minute and 13 seconds behind Gruber.
