First tsunami waves hit Hawaii following 8.8 earthquake in Chile

The state of Hawaii has been under a tsunami warning for a few hours now, as scientists and authorities believed the first wave could hit around 4 p.m. et.  Roads to beaches closed and hotels are evacuated their guests, and the first waves of the tsunami did hit Hawaii at 4:56 p.m. et.  The first wave measured one meter high, according to oceanographer Nathan Bedford, and more waves are expected.  California and Alaska are both remaining under a tsunami advisory.
