Skiing is quickly becoming the first recreational choice for the First Family–at least for Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama. Mother and daughters visited Liberty Mountain Resort in Carroll Valley, Pa., over Presidents’ Day weekend and reportedly returned again last weekend. According to a Washington Post gossip page story, the Obamas brought friends for more lessons, skiing and tubing.
With a vertical drop of 620 feet, Liberty is located about 75 miles from The White House. There’s no word as to if the rest of the First Family has tried to convince Dad to switch his sporting passion from basketball to skiing. If the girls really get serious about skiing, they might want to tell him that President Ford’s former Beaver Creek, Colo., home is currently for sale at a price of $13 million. While purchasing the home could be seen as a strategic bipartisan gesture, it also means– much more importantly– access to a lot more vertical.
