The Conneran family had worked hard to create a version of the Venus de Milo, in the front of their home in Rahway, New Jersey. The sculpture attracted many admirers, however the family were forced to cover her up after an anonymous complaint to the local police department.

The policeman was apologetic after asking the family to dress the snow lady, said Mrs. Conneran. “Our snow lady looked like marble. It looked like a statue. I thought she looked more objectified and sexualized after you put the bikini on. But they say they will continue to make snow sculptures. Last January, the family created a realistic bust of then newly inaugurated President Barack Obama.
