GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany–

Vonn enters the season finale leading hometown favorite and double Olympic gold medalist, Maria Riesch, by 245 points .  Vonn is primed to capture her third consecutive overall World Cup title.  Riesch is second to Lindsey in the standings.

“It’s been a great season and I’m really happy with everything that’s happened,” said Vonn. “I’m going to keep things going through finals.”

According to Brian Pinelli, Special to Universal Sports, The ladies’ schedule continues with a giant slalom on Thursday, a super-G on Friday and the season-ending slalom on Saturday.  One hundred points are awarded for a victory, 80 for second, 60 for third, but unlike during the season, only skiers who finish in the top 15, as opposed to 30, earn points.

Vonn continues her amazing season on her way to become only the fourth female racer in World Cup history to amass three overall titles.
