In its maiden voyage off of American soil, the X-Games has landed in Tignes, France for the first ever “Winter X-Games Europe”. As somewhat of an extention of January’s Winter X-Games, an invitation only competition between the world’s best skiers, boarders, and snowmobilers has been underway since yesterday. The three day event from March 10-12 showcases over 150 of the world’s best extreme sport athletes, and gives all of us a chance to see some of the most spectacular and entertaining skiing and boarding competitions that weren’t in the Olympics, such as Slopestyle. Yesterday was full of elimination rounds for most of the events as well as the Ski Superpipe Men’s Final.
The winner of the 2009 World Championships Halfpipe event in Japan, Kevin Rolland, took yet another X-games gold in this years Winter X Euro Superpipe Men’s Final. The 20 year old Frenchman, who also won the X-Games 14 superpipe, beat out fellow countryman Xavier Bertoni for the gold and Canada’s Justin Dorey earned the bronze.
Today’s events include the Ski Slopestyle Men’s Elimination round, the Snowboard Slopestyle Men’s Final, the Snowboard Superpipe Women’s Final, and will culminate with the Snowboard Superpipe Men’s Elimination round.
