In Grindelwald, Switzerland, Canada left its mark today. The Canadian women swept the podium at a World Cup ski cross race. Additionally, Canadian Chris Del Bosco took bronze in the men’s event.
Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna, B.C., beat Olympic champion Ashleigh McIvor of Whistler, B.C., with Winnipeg’s Danielle Poleschuk completing the Canadian sweep. Anna Holmlund of Sweden was fourth.
For the men, Olympic bronze medalist Audun Groenvold from Norway beat out Olympic champion Michael Schmid from Vail.
In the overall ski cross standings, Del Bosco is just behind Schmid by 178 points. Two events are left starting Sunday, and a win is worth 100 points, so hope is alive for Mr. Schmid.
For the women’s overall standings, France’s Ophelie David has a 38-point lead over Ashleigh McIvor.
